Ready to Dive into a Rewarding Career with Big George’s Pool Care? Follow These Simple Steps:
Submit your application and let us know why you’d be a great fit for our team. We’re looking for individuals who excel in client communication, leadership, and a willingness to learn.
Experience a day in the life of a pool care technician. This hands-on opportunity will give you a comprehensive glimpse into our professional approach, dedication to quality service, and customer satisfaction.
Once you’re on board, the possibilities are endless. Grow through the technician ranks, enhance your skills, and take on leadership roles as part of a supportive and dynamic team.
You start here and during training, you are an Apprentice Technician, where you help a Senior Technician and learn. We start with the basics of pool cleaning, equipment function, and hydraulics and then move into the chemistry of pool care. This position typically lasts about 4-8 weeks before you transition to working a route as a Junior Pool Technician.
You have started working your pools as a Junior Pool Technician, but your training isn’t over! Typically Junior Technicians start with 60 pools (12 per day) and then grow to 75 pools (15 per day) as they can handle it. We still have weekly training and ride-alongs, where I come to help you, do additional training and answer questions. This stage typically lasts 2-6 months, depending on eagerness and commitment to learning. Then you progress to Pool Technician.
As a Pool Technician, you have learned how to clean (and replace) filters, which adds to your skill set and income. You are operating mostly independently. With 75 accounts and filter cleans a Pool Technician makes about $3,800 per month. Additionally, bonuses are available for reviews, Team Member referrals, new client referrals, and the like.
You have a strong understanding of pool chemistry and operation as a Senior Technician. You have added heater maintenance to your skill set and are a resource for other technicians. You can then grow into your area of interest, like sales, training, repairs and/or leadership.
As Big George’s grows, we will need technicians that can sell, field supervisors, trainers, dedicated repair technicians, and more. These positions will be filled internally whenever possible to provide growth opportunities for our team.
Our pay plan is an hourly wage and pay-for-performance. The Pay for performance is a percentage of the client fees, with added income for filter cleans, minor repairs, and referrals. This means we want the same thing, to satisfy clients efficiently and for technicians to earn more.
You can never earn less than $17 an hour, but you can earn more. Much more.
Since we’re focused on your success, I will bring your supplies and take empty bottles. It may seem like a little thing, but it saves a few hours per week and lets you focus on pools, increasing your efficiency and income.
This is an excellent job for self-motivated achievers. It’s not such a great job for those that just want to put in their time.
To help you (and us) succeed, we share our financial information and profits. This helps all of us understand how to help each other succeed.
For those interested, this can serve as an excellent education in finance, marketing analysis, and general business.
Each quarter, we distribute ten percent (10%) of the profits among eligible team members.
Since we are focused on your success, we have the best tools, like the SpinTouch test kit that is fast and accurate. Or the Bottom Feeder vacuum so we can clean pools quickly and thoroughly. You get the idea. The best tools make our work faster, better, and more efficient.
As a small company, we can move quickly. Have a good idea? Great, let’s try it! No corporate red tape or paperwork to navigate.
I’m out cleaning pools, too, so I know what tools, training and support you need to succeed.
I care about your dreams and want to help you achieve them. So let’s talk and see how we can help each other win.
We have new Ford Maverick Hybrids. They will be wrapped and the great mileage means only having to stop for gas once a week, saving time. Of course, Big George’s covers the cost of gas and maintenance.
We get 3 weeks off, paid, each year: Thanksgiving week, the week between Christmas and New Year, and Spring Break.
Big George’s focuses on hands-on training in the field and through our online Learning Management System. We also have specific training at each of our weekly meetings.
There are also podcasts (great with earbuds while you work), Youtube videos and as many training resources as you can handle. There are lots of opportunities to learn, improve your skills and build a career.
Our goal is to create a strong learning culture where we learn from mistakes and always improve. We leave blame and yelling to the other guys.
We have spent the last two years building and testing different marketing techniques, building out our CRM and gathering data. Now we can get more clients than we can handle. We need top performers to handle the work and keep clients coming back. You won’t be bored waiting for work.
No sitting behind a desk; we work outside in the sunshine.
Mutual respect, auto deposit, take the truck home, Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), company shirts, ongoing training, and room for advancement.
We hire apprentices and then promote from within
The speed you move through these steps depends on how eager you are to learn and apply what you learn.
If you have these traits you will succeed and move through the technician ranks at Big George’s. If you excel at client communications, leadership and learning then the opportunities are great.
All jobs have their negatives, so let’s just get it all out.
